Pre-conceptual Pilates

Preparing to have a baby is a life changing decision. There are many choices and changes that you may make in your life. At Body in Mind Pilates™ we can help you prepare your body for the changes that it will undergo during the transition of the pregnancy period. We can offer contact to a number of complementary and allopathic professionals in the East Midlands area who can help you prepare your body for an optimum healthy and positive conception and pregnancy. A pre-conceptual Pilates program will focus on creating balance and strength in preparation for the changes that your body will undergo in the pregnancy period.

Pilates in Pregnancy

Once you are pregnant the program emphasis will shift and change on a weekly basis to support any changes that your body is making. As the body has to meet the growing weight of your baby and change with demands of your pregnancy, so we will help you and your system to be supported and centred through these often challenging transitions.

In pregnancy there can be postural changes that lead to stress on the mechanics of the spine. Our pregnancy programme will help your spine cope with these changes in a strong and positive way. If you are preparing for an active birth we can help the body to create the strength it needs for childbirth and labour.

Our programme will also help you learn useful breathing techniques and rest and relaxation exercises to help ease the tension of labour. It will help you to learn more about your body so that you can make the right choices for yourself in support for the birth of your choice

Pilates and the Post-natal period

Life with a new baby is both challenging and rewarding. Take time out to re-connect with yourself in our Postnatal Pilates program. Our focus in this phase of your motherhood is to help you return your body to a pre-pregnancy weight and place. Our emphasis is on stronger spinal and abdominal muscles, re-addressing your muscle imbalances and posture.
